The work is a philosophical novel by the German philosopher and philologist. Dealing with the notions of the eternal recurrence, the death of God, and the prophecy of the Übermensch. Much of which was conceived whilst writing The Gay Science. The book chronicles the fictitious travels and speeches of a Zarathustra, different from the original founder of Zoroastrianism, this new Zarathustra turns morality on its head, going on to characterise the "first immoralist".
